Guyanese Actress Rhona Fox to Host the Indo-Caribbean Alliance Gala

New York – Guyanese-born actress and entrepreneur Rhona Fox is set to host the Indo-Caribbean Alliance’s Third Annual Gala on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the World’s Fair Marina, in Flushing, New York. Under the nautical theme “Unanchored,” the annual benefit gala is a yearly fundraiser for the Queens, New York-based, non-profit organization, and is its primary source of raising funds to support its community outreach and educational programs, year round.

Fox, who is of Indo-Caribbean heritage, was born in Essequibo, Guyana and lived all over the country before migrating to The Bahamas for high school, and later to New York City for university. Throughout her journey, she has relied on educational resources from various organizations and is thrilled to join forces with the ICA in their mission. “It’s an honor to participate in the Indo-Caribbean Alliance’s Third Annual Gala, as they raise funds to continue providing programs, resources and aid to our community here in the United States,” states Fox. “I’m looking forward to a wonderful night of sharing and learning as we all strive towards the common goal of enhancing the lives of others, in any way we can.”

The Indo-Caribbean Alliance, Inc. (ICA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit or charitable organization that was formed five years ago. It is headquartered in Richmond Hill, Queens has become a mainstay in the community, offering resources and educational programs to empower, enrich and elevate the lives of Caribbean residents in the Queens, New York community. “We find ourselves wanting to improve our community and impact the lives of the people around us,” reveals Faudia Baijnauth, Chairperson and Co-founder of ICA. “We’re moved when wonderful people like Rhona Fox understand our mission and choose to become a part of this movement. This year’s gala is poised to receive the most support, and we’re hoping the most funding. This is how we build from the ground up and bring people together.”

Fox has been raising awareness for Caribbean culture through her work in the entertainment field, both as an actor and also as the founder and co-owner of music label FOX FUSE, which is currently the largest label for contemporary soca music, globally. She is currently standing-in for Bollywood superstar Priyanka Chopra in her American television debut show, Quantico. Fox looks forward to working alongside the ICA in its honorable efforts to improve the lives of not only Indo-Caribbean folks but of all Caribbean people, here in the United States. “Back home, it really took a village to raise a child and with the existence and work of the ICA, we have our very own village here,” she adds.
