Guyana’s Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce to be the featured speaker at the Caribbean Trade Center’s Invest Guyana forum in Miami

MIAMI – Guyana’s Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce the Honorable Irfaan Ali will be the featured speaker at the Caribbean Trade Center’s Invest Guyana forum to be held on Thursday May 23, 2013 at the Firefighters Memorial Building 8000 NW 21st Street, in Doral Florida.

Ali, who also holds the portfolio of Minister of Housing and Water will outline the investment and trade opportunities within the Guyana economy which has experienced consistent positive growth over recent years.

This event is one in the INVEST SERIES being hosted by the Caribbean Trade Center in Florida during 2013. The forum, being put on in conjunction with the Consulate of Guyana in Miami will focus on Guyana’s trade and investment opportunities. It will also feature the launching of INVEST Guyana, a publication of the Guyanese private sector.

Several private businesses including Seafreight Agencies, Laparkan Shipping and Caribbean Airlines are sponsors of the event. More than 150 business executives have already registered to participate in the forum.

Guyana, a member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), boasts a vibrant private sector including foreign companies involved in a number of key sectors of the economy including mining, agri-business, tourism, hotel development, forestry, manufacturing and telecommunications/information technology.

“Guyana welcomes foreign investment in our economy and over the years has developed an investor friendly climate through appropriate legislation, investor concessions and our participation in a number of free trade agreements including the Caribbean Basin Initiative (CBI) with the United States and similar arrangements with Canada, our CARICOM sister nations, Latin America and further afield,” says Honorary Consul Ramzan Roshanali.

“We also have a range of quality products in Guyana available for export and so we welcome this opportunity to work with the CTC on this Invest Guyana forum,” Roshanali said.
