NEW YORK – This morning (July 14) the Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival, GraceKennedy, Grace Jerk dishes & beverages and Brand Jamaica were all over PIX news in New York.
Shelton Rose from Grace Kennedy and Chef Andre Fowles (Food Network’s 2016 Chopped champion) did an excellent job talking up the festival and the wonderful Jerk dishes and spices that will be on display at the festival this Sunday, July 17 at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens, NY.
Event promoters have announced the addition of Miss Jamaica World 2015 Sanneta Myrie and UK-based singer/ songwriter Mark-Anthony Abel to the already impressive list of talent and personalities for this year’s cultural and culinary extravaganza.
The New York City festival is in its sixth year, and dreadlocked Dr. Sanneta Myrie who wowed a global television audience from Sanya, China in the Miss World contest to eventually finish in the top five will be a participant in the always popular and entertaining Celebrity Cook Off contest. With her warm and embracing personality, and her knowledge of nutrition, Myrie will teach New Yorkers a thing or two about jerking up a tasty and delicious meal. Last year, the eventual contest winner was New York City mayor Bill de Blasio.
In addition to Mark-Anthony Abel, the main stage will feature reggae icons Third World alongside crowd pleasers Dexta Daps, Gyptian, Rupee, Ikaya, and comedian Pretty Boy Floyd.
“I am very pleased that once again this year, we have been able to offer to New Yorkers a diverse entertainment package that is as sizzling as the food offerings”, Eddy Edwards, festival founder said. “We are expecting this year’s festival to be the best ever”, he added.
