Grace In The Park Ministries Set To Host 1st annual 1,000 Man March-Stop The Violence

Commitment to Stopping Violence and Providing Positive Resources in the Overtown Community 

MIAMI – Grace In The Park ministries has partnered with the Starks Charitable Foundation to host its 1st annual 1,000 Man March-Stop The Violence, Saturday, May 30, 2015. The day will kick off with a motivational rally from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. and will then be followed by the Overtown Peace-Walk at Gibson Park (401 NW 12th St. Miami, FL 33136) and continue throughout the Overtown community. 99 Jamz is the official community radio partner.

“We want to provide a day full of positive choices to the Overtown community,” Grace In The Park Lead Speaker Dwayne Bennett Sr. says. “Bringing positive choices will leave no room for those in the community to resort to violence.”

1000 Man MarchGrace in the Park Ministries, Inc. is a non-denominational outreach ministry that caters to the needs of people from all walks of life. Lead speaker of the ministry and Overtown native, Dwayne Bennett Sr. saw a need for the ministry in the community in summer of 2014. Born into the life of crime, Bennett is able to relate to those in the community because he was one of them.

In addition to the march, Grace In The Park will also host a job fair inside the Gibson Park grounds from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Confirmed organizations include; D. A. Dorsey Technical College, Bridge for Hope Inc. ,Career Source South Florida Unit, South Florida Work Force and Transitions Inc.  and National Agents Alliance. The Miami- Dade State Attorney’s office will also have staff on site to help with the process of record expungements.

Water and soft drinks will be provided by community partners- Overtown Youth Center and Mellenium Clinic.

Grace In The Park ministries is passionate about taking proactive approaches to provide tangible solutions to help combat the root of violence in the community. Their motto, “it takes the streets to save the streets” ensures a judgement-free and communal environment. Grace In The Park ministries represents hope in an environment surrounded by negative choices and influences.
