Governor Crist Appoints Rodney Smith to Miami-Dade County Court

TALLAHASSEE – Governor Charlie Crist today announced the appointment of Miami Beach Senior Assistant City Attorney Rodney Smith to the Miami-Dade County Court.

“Rodney’s combined public and private practice experience is a strong foundation for his new role on the Miami-Dade County Court,” said Governor Crist. “His volunteer commitment to the Miami community and the legal profession demonstrates the strong character and integrity I am confident he will carry to the bench.”

Smith, 33, is a graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and a cum laude graduate of the Michigan State University College of Law. Prior to his tenure with the City of Miami Beach, Smith practiced law as a trial attorney with McGrane, Nosich & Ganz P.A. and later as a senior trial attorney with the Law Office of Rebecca Ribler.

From 1999 to 2003, Smith served as an assistant state attorney in the 11th Judicial Circuit Court.

Smith will fill the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge George Sarduy to the 11th Judicial Circuit Court.
