Government of Barbados lifts ban on beef and beef products from USA

BARBADOS – The Government of Barbados restriction on beef and beef products from the United States of America (USA) has been lifted.

According to Veterinary Officer in the Ministry of Agriculture’s Veterinary Services, Dr. Rosina Maitland, “beef and beef products can once again be imported from the USA on passenger import permits.

“The permit allows an applicant to import 25 lbs of assorted meats. It is important that all products are in their original packaging and bear proof of official inspection by the United States Department of Agriculture,” she said.

Dr. Maitland added that “conditions for the commercial importation of beef have also undergone changes. Commercial importers will be advised of changes by direct communication”.

Import permits are obtainable from the Veterinary Services.
