Global Connectivity Provider Telxius Expands in Caribbean

MADRID — Telxius, a global connectivity provider, has launched a new point of presence at the NAP Caribe data center in Santo Domingo, expanding its network presence in the Caribbean and strengthening the Dominican Republic’s role as a regional connectivity hub.

Global Network

The new PoP is fully integrated into Telxius’ global network and complements the company’s submarine cable landing gateway in Punta Cana. This gateway is a key asset in its Caribbean expansion. Together, the sites enhance service availability, performance and resilience for customers across the Dominican Republic and the wider region.

The expansion brings Telxius’ network and transport, interconnection and security services closer to carriers, content providers and enterprises. This is important as regional demand for high-capacity connectivity continues to grow. The Dominican Republic had more than 10.2 million internet users as of the first quarter of 2025, according to DataReportal.

Santa Domingo POP

“Our new PoP in Santo Domingo reinforces our commitment to delivering world-class connectivity across some of the world’s most dynamic markets,” said Carlos Casado, Northern Region Sales VP at Telxius.

“The Caribbean is home to a growing number of digital hubs, making it a key growth region for our customers and our network. Together with NAP Caribe, we are enabling faster, more secure and more reliable connectivity across the Caribbean and wider Latin America.”

Global Infrastructure

Telxius operates over 100,000 kilometers of submarine and land fiber worldwide. It also runs 25 carrier-neutral landing stations and edge data centers. Through the Santo Domingo PoP, customers can access scalable global infrastructure. They can also use many services, including internet and interconnection. Other services include private connectivity, cloud access, and security.

“We are proud to welcome Telxius to our data center in the Dominican Republic, where its global connectivity footprint is anchored by our advanced technological capabilities, robust security standards and highly resilient, carrier-neutral digital infrastructure,” said Maria Waleska Álvarez, CEO at NAP Caribe.

“By aligning our visions and strengths, we are accelerating the development of a seamlessly interconnected regional ecosystem and enabling new opportunities for innovation, growth and digital transformation across local and regional markets.”

NAP Caribe is a neutral interconnection hub in the Caribbean designed to meet high standards for security, reliability and redundancy. The Santo Domingo deployment follows Telxius’ recent network expansion in Fortaleza, Brazil, and underscores the company’s continued investment in Latin America amid rising content demand and internet traffic across the region.
