Milinda Smith – Miss Jamaica World 2nd Runner Up 2016

[SOUTH FLORIDA] – Miss Jamaica World Second Runner-up 2016, Milinda Smith was born in Linstead, Jamaica and migrated to the USA as a toddler with her mother and then baby brother.

Milinda entered the Miss Jamaica World pageant already eclectic and well poised determined to win a crown. Milinda was not only crowned Miss Jamaica World Hibiscus 2016 but she walked away with a few sectional prizes as well.

She was Miss Jamaica World Miss Beach Beauty 2016, Miss Jamaica World Best Body 2016, and Miss Jamaica World Best Smile 2016.

From Miss Jamaica World to Carnival Costume Designer

Since the pageant Milinda Smith has dabbled in a few different ventures and expanded her company where she made carnival costumes & presented as a small carnival band alongside her friend & dj, Dj Skool Boi.

Some of her costume clients include singer Timeka Marshall of Guyana and band leader & producer Big Z of Saint Lucia.

To date, her most notable designs that masqueraders still request recreations of were worn by social media influencer Shanice Allen (shanzi.A).

Although she faced several challenges in the workforce and sometimes uncertainties about the future career-wise, Milinda never shied away from pursuing her dreams of becoming a businesswoman and working for herself.

Launch of MAJAS

While attending college, Milinda started to research how to manufacture lotions and body butters. After much trial and error, she came up with the perfect formula for her all-natural skin care products.

Realizing that the products were both stable and effective, her beauty product line MAJAS was born. Her products can be found at www.majasthebrand.com.

Milinda knew she had much more to offer the fashion & beauty industry as she became fascinated with the art of eyelash extensions not only as a consumer but, as an artist.

After excelling in her lash extension training, her desire to make strides in the fashion & beauty industry furthered as she now honed in on her vision and saw a clear path for her future. This led her to pursue her education in Esthetics.

Beauty Spa Grand Opening

As a licensed Esthetician, Milinda Smith is now set to open her own beauty spa based in South Florida.

What is remarkable about this young woman is that during this pandemic while others are doubtful, frightful, and believing life will be on hold forever, she has set out to open her business. When Milinda was asked, how is it she is opening a business in a pandemic, her response was, “real life still a keep.”

A Visit to Jamaica’s Consul General Office

Recently, Milinda Smith graced the Jamaica Consulate in Miami where she paid a visit to the Consul General Oliver Mair. He was presented with some of her natural skincare products from MAJAS in appreciation for his involvement in the diaspora. He has continuously supported not only her business but others as well. She was well received by the Consul General and his team who gave a rave review of the products they received as well.
