Florida Regional Minority Business Council to Host 21st Annual Business Expo

MIAMI – The Florida Regional Minority Business Council (FRMBC) will hold its 21st Annual Business Expo Thursday, March 9th and Friday, March 10th, 2006 at the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center, 1950 Eisenhower Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale.

“The Power of Business Diversity” is the theme of this year’s Expo. The event is an ideal opportunity for minority entrepreneurs to present their goods and services to purchasing agents from Fortune 500 companies and government agencies. Exhibitors and sponsors include BellSouth, North Broward Hospital District, Comcast Cable, Office Depot, Sun Sentinel, Clear Channel Outdoor, Superior Design International, Washington Mutual, UPS, SunTrust Bank, American Express, IBM, Burger King Corporation and the State of Florida.

R. Marcelo Claure, President of Brightstar Corporation is the keynote speaker at the 2006 Expo. Brightstar, Mr. Claure’s brainchild, sells cellular equipment in Latin America. This year’s event also includes a gubernatorial forum featuring the candidates for governor of the state of Florida. The candidates will discuss the importance of business diversity.

Expo workshops are focused on growth industries such as Retail, Food and Beverage, Information Technology and Entertainment. “The Secrets of My Success” session will showcase minority entrepreneurs who will share insights into their successful ventures. The Super Bowl Host Committee is the sponsor of a workshop entitled, “How to do Business with the NFL and Super Bowl XLI”.

In addition, there will be a Youth Entrepreneurship session presented by Scripps Florida on the Bio-Medical Industry. More than 100 students will attend the workshop.

The 2006 Business Expo is open to the public. Admission to the workshops is $30 each day and the Welcome Reception is $35. The Business Expo and luncheon will be held Friday, March 10th; the costs are $30 and $35 respectively.
