First Day of Affordable Care Act Enrollment at Community Health of South Florida Inc.(CHI)

CHI logoMIAMI – Open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act begins Saturday Nov. 15th.  Community Health of South Florida Inc.(CHI) will open its doors on Saturday from 8:30am to 4pm at two of its health centers (Doris Ison Health Center 10300 SW 216th St. Miami and  the Martin Luther King/Clinica Campesina Health Center 810 W. Mowry Dr. Homestead) to help those looking to enroll in health insurance plans.

CHI has received nearly $1.5 million in grant awards from the federal government to help with outreach, education and enrollment in the health insurance marketplace. It has 24 Certified Assistant Counselors that will sit down one on one to help enroll and educate people for free.

The health insurance marketplace is designed to make sure Americans are covered by health insurance regardless of their budget. Insurance plans are available to cover a comprehensive set of benefits, including doctor visits, hospital stays, preventative care and prescriptions. The government’s program includes plans that are designed to treat everyone fairly. No one can be denied coverage because of a pre-existing condition. Now into its second year, the application process has been shortened and streamlined.

Open enrollment runs from November 15th, 2014 to February 15th, 2015. In addition to coming into CHI’s health centers  for enrollment assistance. Those interested can call (786)272-2100 to make an appointment with a Certified Assistant Counselor.

Community Health of South Florida Inc (CHI) is a non-profit health care company with ten health care centers from Marathon to South Miami Dade and Coconut Grove. It also has 42 school based health centers within Miami Dade Public Schools. For more than 40 years, CHI has been caring for both the insured and uninsured. Community Outreach is part of its core mission.

CHI’s Certified Assistant Counselors will be based all over South Florida from the Keys to South Dade and Miami.
