Expedia Supports Jamaican Hotel Partners to Boost their Business

Market management teams empower Jamaican Hotel partners with one-on-one strategy sessions

Kingston, JamaicaThe Expedia group, one of the world’s leading travel companies, recently embarked on a three-day tour of Jamaica where they conducted comprehensive seminars with local Jamaican hotel partners of varying sizes and needs.

The Expedia Partner Central (EPC) Tune-ups, conducted throughout various cities in Jamaica, were created to enable and empower Expedia’s local Jamaican Hotel partners to fully realize the potential of utilizing the company’s value-driving resources.

The roadshows commenced with an in-depth look at the factors that influence the performance of hoteliers in the marketplace and how they can utilize the EPC platform to maximize conversion and increase demand.

The local Jamaican Market Management team and Billy Medina, Manager of Lodging Content Operations/GSO Miami, conducted one-on-one EPC strategy sessions with partners and reviewed different areas of Expedia’s Marketplace including their property’s content score, photos, package offerings, and more.

Expedia’s local team visited Negril’s Travellers Beach Resort, Palm View Guest House in Montego Bay, and the Hibiscus Lodge in Ocho Rios.

“With increased competition in Jamaica due to the influx of supply in resort areas such as Negril, Montego Bay, and Ocho Rios, the local market management team sought to work with our partners in an effort to showcase how the EPC platform is an opportunity to stand out and capture market share, regardless of the hotel’s size and marketing budget,” said Demetrius Canton, Director of Market Management for the Caribbean, the Expedia group.

“Expedia group’s local market managers have been integral in the success of the Chester Avenue Bed & Breakfast. Regardless of our property size, we have always felt that we were a top priority,” said Dominique McIntosh, owner of Chester Avenue Bed & Breakfast in Kingston. “The Expedia group has always provided a strong helping hand in developing our marketing promotions via EPC, come up with new ideas to increase revenue, and were always available to us with any questions or issues we had.”

“Working with the Expedia group has been a game changing experience for our hotel. I can’t say enough about how valuable Expedia’s tools and strategies have been in driving sales and increasing revenue,” stated Winthrope Wellington, Managing Director at Travellers Beach Resort in Negril.

The EPC Tune-ups provided an opportunity for Expedia group to further support smaller hotels – who make up a significant percentage of the company’s Jamaica partners.

Created in partnership with the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) and the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association, the seminars stressed the importance of actively participating in promotions, uploading compelling content, and using captioned photos to improve a resorts’ visibility for potential customers, which will increase conversion rates and bookings.
