Eight Broward County Parks and Attractions Recognized by Trip Advisor

BROWARD COUNTY – Broward County’s Parks and Recreation Division has received eight Certificate of Excellence awards from TripAdvisor because travelers consistently gave our parks great reviews. “It’s a big honor to get excellence awards from TripAdvisor,” says Parks Director Dan West. “It’s the world’s #1 trip review site, and seven of our 21 regional parks and nature centers were recognized, as well as one of our five public/private partners.”

The awards were given to:

The nature center complex is a 1,501-acre coastal mangrove wetland that’s home to a wide variety of plants and animals, including some threatened and endangered species. Five extensive boat trails offer access to this wilderness area for sightseeing and fishing.

This internationally famous attraction, which opened in March 1988, is on the south side of Tradewinds Park. It features as its centerpiece a walk-through tropical garden with thousands of live butterflies, as well as an insect museum, a lorikeet encounter, botanical gardens, and several aviaries, including the largest free-flight hummingbird aviary in the country.

This 299-acre site is one of the Division’s most diverse parks, as well as one of its most popular. Along with the Paradise Cove water park, the park offers a large RV campground, a tennis complex, a family golfing center, and many other amenities.

Long nicknamed the “Gateway to the Everglades,” this 29-acre park is located at the western end of Griffin Road, off U.S. 27 in Water Conservation Area 3. The park offers airboat rides, boat ramps, fishing, wildlife viewing, food concessions, boat rentals, and alligator shows.

This popular 56-acre park, located at A1A and Sheridan Street, provides access to 1.1 miles of the City of Hollywood’s public beach and beautiful views of the Intracoastal Waterway.

Perched at the edge of the Everglades, this 669-acre park features a campground, an observatory for stargazing, a model airplane field, mountain bike trails (including a recently opened adaptive trail), and one of the premier outdoor public shooting ranges in South Florida.

Water is the focus of this 431.4-acre park, which includes the Splash Adventure water park, Ski Rixen USA cable water-skiing, a marina with boats for rent, and several lakes for fishing. For recreation on dry land, the park features Bike America bicycle rentals, mountain bike trails, basketball courts, and a campground with platform tents and tepees.

The 243.3-acres of this park range from 23 acres of restored freshwater marsh accessible via a 1,000-foot boardwalk to the 102.2-acre Pine Island Ridge, an archaeological site that includes equestrian and nature trails and, at 29 feet above sea level, is the highest natural elevation in Broward County.
