MIAMI GARDENS – The Dr. Vonnie McGowan-Arscott Foundation for Children in Need, Inc., with headquarters in Florida will be officially launched on Sunday, April 23, 2017, at 7:00 p.m.
The event will take place at the church where she worshipped – Pentecostal Tabernacle, 18415 NW 7th Avenue, Miami Gardens, FL 33169.
The Foundation seeks to honor the life of the late Dr. Vonnie McGowan-Arscott by advancing her work which was centered on service to others. While during her lifetime her acts of service were many and varied, she had a strong interest in things educational and the needs of children in particular.
The Foundation, which has applied for registration as a 501(c) (3) corporation, is governed by a board of directors who will establish a program to award academic scholarships to eligible students at the High School level on the Island of Jamaica.
The Foundation will also continue her School Breakfast Program. The Breakfast Program was started to ensure that needy children enjoyed a nutritious first meal; this she deemed vital for learning in the classroom.
