Don’t Be Confused By the Address on Your Census Form

BROWARD COUNTY – Many Broward County residents who have received their 2010 Census Form in the mail may have discovered that the form contains a pre-printed home mailing address different from what they are accustomed to seeing or using. This should not be a concern for residents.

The U.S. Census Bureau has verified each resident address for accuracy. The 20-digit identification number on your individual form links back to the Census Bureau’s master address and geographic files, which were physically verified by on-the-ground census workers who located each housing unit.

In addition, the address on your form may not list the city name or zip code you are accustomed to seeing on your mail. According to the Census Bureau, this is due to a cost-saving measure that streamlines how the forms are sorted and delivered by the U.S. Postal Service. Completing your Census form with this information on it will not affect which city, town or block your household’s responses will be assigned to when the census results are tabulated.

Residents who have not yet received their forms are urged to be patient! All forms may not be received until the end of March. However if residents have not received a Census Form by April 12, they should call one of the Bureau’s toll-free help lines:
