Dobby Dobson, Gem Myers, For Valentine’s Variety Show in South Florida

MIRAMAR – Anyone looking to celebrate Valentine’s Day beyond the traditional dinner date and gifts of roses and chocolate will find a perfect evening in the upcoming Valentine’s Variety Show entitled Love is a Funny Little Thing, scheduled for Sunday, February 14, 7:30 p.m., at the Miramar Cultural Center, 2400 Civic Center Place, in Miramar.

Love is a Funny Little Thing promises an evening of comedy, passionate poems and love songs designed to entertain and celebrate the joys of love on Valentine’s Day. This year’s show will feature comedians Chris “Johnny” Daley and Elva Ruddock offering a humorous take on romance, passionate poems by Joan Andrea Hutchinson and love songs performed by Gem Myers, Dobby Dobson, Endel I and guitarist Eugene Grey.

Last year’s show was a resounding success, receiving critical acclaim and rave reviews from the over four hundred patrons who attended. It is anticipated that many will return, as well as a throng of new supporters who regret missing an exceptional evening of entertainment.

Making a rare Florida appearance will be vocalist Gem Myers, who has wowed audiences worldwide, leaving them astonished at her wide range, commanding stage presence, virtuosity, star quality and style that she effortlessly exudes. She will come armed with a well trained voice, and a selection of songs ranging from Reggae, Jazz, disco, pop, and Rhythm & Blues, which will surely leave her audience begging for more.

Legendary singer Dobby Dobson, will be drawing from his extensive repertoire of lover’s rock hits and romantic ballads including “Loving Pauper” “Seems to Me” and “Sweet Dreams.” Dobby always delivers a stirring performance which is sure to make the ladies scream with delight. Florida-based performers Endel I and Jazz guitarist Eugene Grey are also expected to thrill the audience with stellar performances.

Chris “Johnny” Daley, a seasoned entertainer well known in film, television, radio, theatre and comedy circles, and Elva Ruddock, one of Jamaica’s outsanding female comedians, will add a double dose of humor as they offer an amusing look at romance and relationships. Both comedians are sure to amuse the audience with their side-splitting presentations.

Joan Andrea Hutchinson, the consummate communicator, who uses wit and humor as a vehicle to help people understand Jamaican culture, will read a selection of romantic poems. Joan Andrea will captivate the audience with her passionate poetry and love stories.
