Dancehall Promoters Irish and Chin Makes History

New York – Leading dancehall promoters Irish and Chin jump started Spring 2010 with a bang, making history by staging three back-to-back, blockbuster events in three countries: United States, Jamaica and England.

Although Irish and Chin has pulled off some extraordinary feats in the past in the realms of dancehall entertainment, this is the first time in the company’s 13 year history that they staged three major events three weekends in a row.

First up was “Reeewind & Come Again” at the end of March. This sold-out throwback event, the second installment in Irish and Chin’s “Reeewind” series, featured top artists Shabba, Tiger, Barrington Levy, Admiral Bailey, Brigadier Jerry, Ranking Joe and Frankie Paul performing in a rub-a-dub style on the legendary King Stur Gav sound. The colossal event drew record breaking numbers to Amazura in Queens, New York. “Reeewind” will return to New York in October 2010.

Following this successful stint, the Irish and Chin team headed to Jamaica to close out Death Before Dishonor, the last clash of their famed World Clash series. On Easter Monday, thousands of loyal clash enthusiasts traveled from far and wide to witness top sounds in Death Before Dishonor 10, “The Final Warr.” This eventful clash featured the likes of returning champions Mighty Crown, Bass Odyssey, Black Kat and newcomers to the Death Before Dishonor stage Sentinel and Bredda Hype. As fate has it, the clash boiled down to a diehard battle between Panther and Sentinel. And like a phoenix, Panther rose from the ashes, claiming victory after dominating the “tune-fi-tune.”

Irish and Chin concluded their triple threat in England with the UK Cup Clash vs U.S. World Clash. Staged by Irish and Chin and Reggae Girls Promotions, this mega, sold-out sound system competition brought intense clash vibes back to England as the UK Cup Clash team ( Bass Odyssey, David Rodigan and One Love) and U.S. World Clash team (Mighty Crown, Black Kat and Sentinel) battled to settle the score of which was the best event. After an intense face off, the UK team prevailed and claimed the victory.

“Opening Spring 2010 the way we did is a great achievement for the Irish and Chin brand, however it could not have been done without the dedication of my staff,” says Garfield “Chin” Bourne of Irish and Chin. “Since artist management has consumed most of my time these days, my staff has solely been in charge of promoting, staging and managing all the company’s events and I am very proud of them…..their hard work paid off.”

“And of course, Irish and Chin could not have pulled off the ‘UK Cup Clash vs ‘U.S. World Clash’ without Lady V of Reggae Girls Promotions, a top sound owner and promoter who has reigned as the dominant force in UK’s clash arena,” adds Chin with sincerity.

More than anything — Irish and Chin is extremely grateful for the support of loyal patrons and consumers. The company’s fire in 2010 is just getting started. On June 5-6, the promoters will bring the hit comedy “Serious Business,” featuring Keith “Shebada” Ramsay and an all-star cast, to Brooklyn and Queens. Stay tuned to Irish and Chin for details and top dancehall entertainment.
