BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – St. Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Denzil L. Douglas says the hosting of the 6th PetroCaribe Summit in St. Kitts and Nevis will provide a tremendous opportunity to continue the dialogue with its regional partners to further discuss and agree on a collective strategic response to the current global economic and financial crisis.
Speaking at his regular monthly press conference on Wednesday, Prime Minister Douglas said the Summit on June 12th 2009 will be preceded by a ministerial meeting of Energy Ministers from the PetroCaribe member states on 11th June 2009 to be chaired by the St. Kitts and Nevis Minister responsible for Energy, Dr. the Hon. Earl Asim Martin.
Dr. Douglas said the Summitt is expected to be attended by some 18 Heads of State and Government from the PetroCaribe region including President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, His Excellency Hugo Chavez and President of the Republic of Cuba, His Excellency Raul Castro.
