Country Club of Miami Wins Fifth Annual Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica – Country Club of Miami, led by senior golf professional Herb Smith, defeated the Stephanie Ediger-led Blue Hills Country Club of Kansas City to win the fifth annual Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am “Annie’s Revenge” presented by NIKE GOLF.

The 54-hole championship event, which concluded on Saturday, December 11, featured a sold-out field of 40 Pro-Am teams representing golf clubs from four countries and 15 states across the U.S. The event was played on two of Jamaica’s finest golf courses, Cinnamon Hill and White Witch in Montego Bay.

Bob Casper, long-time golf professional and co-host of the Real Golf Radio show on the PGA TOUR Radio Network, captured the 36-hole Pro Medal Tournament with a three under par score of 138.

“Jamaica’s world-class golfing is second to none in the Caribbean, and we are proud to support such a wonderful event that brings teams from all over the world to the island. The combination of championship golf, luxury resorts and, most important, the warm hospitality of our people, has proven to be the driving force behind the tournament’s success. As a destination, we look forward to hosting even more teams in 2011,” says Donnie Dawson, Jamaica’s Deputy Director of Tourism for Sales, Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB).

NIKE GOLF, the presenting sponsor of the event, provided product demos, prizes and tee gifts for all the players, including DriFIT Shirts, Windproof Outerwear, ONE-D Balls, and more. Participants were offered a unique opportunity to sample the new SQ Machspeed Driver as part of the NIKE GOLF Long Drive Challenge, a two-day competition with separate divisions for amateurs and pros. In addition to prizes awarded to team champions, participants who won sponsored contest holes were awarded roundtrip tickets on American Airlines, limited-edition golf art from Winner’s Award Group, on-island excursions from Jamaica Tours Limited, and three-night return stays to the host hotel, the Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort Rose Hall.

“Annie’s Revenge and golf in Jamaica have benefitted significantly from the power of two great brands: Jamaica and NIKE GOLF,” says Tom Jaronski, Tournament Director and Partner at The Golf Connection. “Both are focused on the common goal of developing strong relationships with PGA Professionals, top off-course retailers, and avid core players. It’s a partnership that significantly benefits both brands.”

The Jamaica Invitational Pro-Am, presented by NIKE Golf and the JTB, is managed by The Golf Connection.
