Copa Airlines to Increase Service from Panama to Montego Bay

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica – Copa Airlines and the Jamaica Tourist Board today announced an increase in service between the airline’s Hub of the Americas at Tocumen International Airport in Panama City, Panama (PTY) and Jamaica’s Sangster International Airport (MBJ) in Montego Bay, to four times a week starting December 17.

The Copa flight will depart Panama at 9:38 a.m. on Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, arriving in Montego Bay at 11:35 a.m. Return flights will depart MBJ at 12:31 p.m., and arrive at PTY at 2:22 p.m. on Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Copa inaugurated the route in August 2011 with twice-weekly service.

“These additional flight frequencies between Montego Bay and Panama City allow us to offer our customers a more complete service,” said Jose Montero, Planning Director, Copa Airlines. “The added departures will give our passengers more travel options to more Latin American destinations through our Hub of the Americas at Tocumen International Airport in Panama.”

In addition to the expansion into Montego Bay, Copa Airlines offers regular service from the Hub of the Americas in Panama City into Jamaica’s Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The Kingston service departs PTY at 12:04 p.m. and arrives at KIN at 1:54 p.m. The return flight departs KIN at 6:05 p.m. and arrives at PTY at 8:00 p.m.

“The increased service is a testament to the strong partnership with Copa Airlines to attract visitors from all over Latin America to our sunny shores,” said John Lynch, Jamaica’s Director of Tourism. “As we continue to diversify our global marketing strategy, the Jamaica Tourist Board has pursued an aggressive program with our valued travel partners to enhance airlift to the destination, allowing us to remain competitive in the travel industry. The new service offers even more options and the potential for growing visitor arrivals to both destinations.”

Copa Airlines serves 64 destinations in North, Central and South America. For more information, or to make a reservation, visit www.copa.com. To book a Jamaica vacation, go to www.visitjamaica.com.
