Congressman Joe Garcia Urges Colleagues to Continue to Fight for Immigration Reform

WASHINGTON, DC – Despite a recent shift in attention away from the conversation on immigration reform, yesterday, Congressman Joe Garcia spoke on the House floor urging colleagues to continue the fight for a comprehensive solution.

Congressman Garcia stressed the economic benefits of a multifaceted, inclusive system and related to his experience growing up as the son of immigrant parents in South Florida.

“Immigrants bolster our country, they bolster America’s private sector, by consuming more goods, more services, providing increased income. All this in turn, creates more jobs and greater income for all Americans… The fight for comprehensive immigration reform is one that makes all Americans better, makes our country richer, and creates opportunity for all,” emphasized Garcia.

Over the next 20 years, immigrants will contribute over $1 trillion to economic growth. Congressman Garcia believes that a smart solution to immigration reform is a boon, creating great opportunities, making for a better America.
