Community forum in So. Fla. to coordinate emergency relief efforts for Jamaica

MIAMI – The Jamaica Consulate General will host a public community forum to coordinate emergency relief programs designated for Jamaica.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday (Aug. 22) at 6:30 p.m. at the Christway Baptist Church, 3800 South Douglas Road in Miramar.

Meanwhile, drop off points have been set up at several churches including the Holy Family Episcopal Church in North Miami, Kendall Community Church in Kendall, and the Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church in Pembroke Pines.

The Consulate is accepting monetary donations in the form of money orders made payable to the Jamaica Consulate General (Hurricane Relief) and mailed to the office at 25 Southeast Second Avenue, Suite 609, Miami, FL 33131.

A list of critically needed items should include as non-perishable food items, batteries, flashlights, first aid kits, battery operated radios and bottled water.
