Commissioner Jean Monestime to honor Haitian-American Musicians

MIAMI – Miami-Dade CountyCommissioner Jean Monestime, District 2, will honor a group of pioneering Haitian-American musicians on Monday, June 11, 2012,  for their work in the advancement and promotion of Haitian arts and culture through music.
 
Eight exemplary Haitian-American musicians will be honored at the Recreation and Cultural Affairs committee meeting beginning at 2 p.m. in the chambers of the Board of County Commissioners. (Stephen P. Clark Center

The honorees include Anderson Cameau, Andre “Dadou” Pasquet, Arly Lariviere, Bemol Telfort, Claude “Tico” Pasquet, Farah Juste, Gazman Pierre, and Jean Herard Richard “Richie.”
 
“Through their talent, these fine performers have enhanced the cultural fabric of our community  and have become living legends in Haiti’s musical history,” said Commissioner Jean Monestime.
 “They are truly ambassadors of the arts, and I salute them.”
