Commissioner Holness Welcomes First Time Homebuyers to Franklin Park Estates

Broward CountyFirst time homebuyers along with Commissioner Holness cut the ribbon for the 18 new affordable single family homes in Franklin Park Estates.

New homeowners were able to move into their three bedroom, two-bath, two-car garage homes, through a partnership with Broward County, Housing Finance Authority of Broward County (HFA), Florida Department of Economic Recovery, and the U. S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Disaster Recovery Initiative (DRI) grant and Broward County Housing Finance Authority.

The energy-efficient homes were constructed by Access Builders.

This project is consistent with and furthers the Central County Community Redevelopment Plan led by Commissioner Holness and approved by the Broward County Commission on October 23, 2012, and the Central County Targeted Planning and Economic Development Strategy for NW 27th Avenue.

With the new homes in Franklin Park Estates this represents a total investment of over 16 million dollars to Central Broward County, championed by Commissioner Holness.

“Home ownership in Central Broward County has long been a priority for me and for the residents of Central Broward County.  Owning a home is part of the American Dream, it gives a sense of pride, stability, and security.  Four years ago these homes were valued at $145,000, today these homes are valued at $200,000.  These homes will not only revitalize the area, but shows that investing in our communities brings about positive results,” says Commissioner Holness.
