Clive Lloyd is Guest of Honor at the Guyanese 40th Republic Ball in Orlando this February

Orlando – Acclaimed Guyanese-born Cricketer Clive Lloyd has accepted an invitation from the Guyanese American Cultural Association of Central Florida (GACACF) to be the guest-of-honor and guest speaker at the annual Republic Anniversary Ball to be held February 27, 2010 at the Rosen Center Hotel on International Drive, Orlando.

This is the fifth consecutive year that the GACACF is putting on the event to mark another anniversary of Guyana’s becoming a Republic on February 23, 1970.

Mr. Clive Lloyd follows as guest-of-honor internationally renowned author Ted Braithwaite in 2005 former West Indies Cricket Captain Alvin Kallicharran, Actress CCH Pounder, Entertainer Dave Martin and Community Businesses Caribbean Sun Newspaper, Caribbean Supercenter & Laparkan Shipping.

Clive Lloyd captained the West Indies between 1974 and 1985 and oversaw their rise to a great period in West Indies Cricket. He is still noted as one the most successful test captains of all time. He was the first West Indian player to earn 100 international caps. He captained the West Indies team to the World Cup Finals in 1975, 1979 and 1983 winning in 75 and 79 but losing in the final in 1983. The only two world cup wins for West Indies cricket.
