City of West Park to Make Healthier Lifestyles for Residents as Easy as a Walk in their Parks

WEST PARK – The City of West Park and Health Foundation of South Florida are joining efforts to add to the quality of life of residents in Broward County.

The City recently received a grant award of $60,000 for park improvements at Mary Saunders and McTyre Parks. The funding will go toward building Exercise/Walking Trails and Fitness Zones. The park improvements will encourage all members of the community to take advantage of the opportunity to exercise and get on track for better health.

According to West Park Mayor Eric H. Jones, “We are honored to have the opportunity to partner with the Health Foundation of South Florida. This project reflects our commitment to help all of our residents with increasing their physical activity levels and maintaining healthier lifestyles.” He added, “We have been designated as a 2011Playful City USA by a national non-profit KaBoom! This designation and improved parks reflects our commitment to developing an enjoyable and active community for future generations.”
