City Of Miramar To Swear In First Caribbean-American Mayor And Haitian American Commissioner

MIRAMAR –  The City of Miramar will have a Special Commission Meeting on Monday, March 23, 2015, at 7pm at the Miramar Cultural Center located at 2400 Civic Center Place, Miramar, Florida 33025.

This historic event will swear-in Miramar’s first Caribbean-American Mayor in the City’s 60 year history, Mayor-Elect Wayne Messam, is of Jamaican decent. In addition, the City’s first Haitian American Commissioner, Darline Riggs and Jamaican born Maxwell Chambers will also be sworn in.

A meet and greet reception will be held from 6pm-7pm.  Special performances include the Miramar High School Band, Everglades High School Legacy Choir and the Florida Memorial University Ambassador Chorale.  This event is open to the public.
