CARICOM signs trade and cooperation agreement with Cuba

KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s Cabinet has endorsed the implementation of duty free access for specific goods from Cuba into Jamaica and seasonal duties on other products.

Jamaica’s Minister with responsibility for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, Daryl Vaz gave this update during the Post Cabinet Press Briefing at Jamaica House earlier this week.

The endorsement is a move towards implementing the Trade and Economic Cooperation Agreement between CARICOM and the Republic of Cuba that was signed in 2000. Cabinet also gave instructions for amendments to be drafted to the Customs Act so that the Agreement can be fully implemented.
