Caribbean Tourism Policymakers & Diaspora Leaders To Talk Business At CTO Caribbean Week New York

Diaspora Forum on Tuesday, June 2 to focus on business & investment opportunities in Caribbean Tourism

NEW YORK –  Caribbean nationals living in the New York City area are looking to bring home the business and will share their ideas with visiting Caribbean tourism policymakers and technicians in “The Big Apple” for Caribbean Week New York.

Caribbean Diaspora leaders will explore business and investment opportunities in tourism in their countries of origin at the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO)’s Diaspora Forum, an avenue for discussion, networking and exchanging ideas on how Caribbean nationals living in New York can continue to contribute to, and benefit from, Caribbean tourism.

“While the Diaspora want to continue to be ambassadors, they have also indicated that they wish to do more; Diaspora entrepreneurs say they wish to invest at home and want to know what  opportunities are in the tourism sector and how to access these opportunities,” said Sylma Brown, the head of the CTO New York office.

During the Forum, visiting tourism ministers or their representatives will explain to members of the Diaspora Community why they should invest in Caribbean tourism projects, what is required of the Diaspora in relation to business and investment; who the Diaspora  can partner with, and how their influence in the marketplace might assist in meeting mutual tourism objectives. The Diaspora community will also articulate what they bring to the table.

The theme for this year’s event is “Bringing Home the Business – Tourism Investment Opportunities at Home”. The forum, which forms part of the programme of activities for Caribbean Week New York, takes place from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm on Tuesday 2 June at the Wyndham New Yorker Hotel.
