Caribbean Tourism Leaders will launch a $60 million marketing campaign

ST. LUCIA – Caribbean Tourism Leaders will launch a $60 million marketing campaign to promote the Caribbean as a single destination, according to Allen Chastanet, chairman of the CARICOM (Caribbean Community) Task Force on Tourism.

Chastanet said that the 15 CARICOM countries would pay $21 million while the remainder of the money would come from the Caribbean Hotel Association, the Caribbean Tourism Organization and other stakeholders.

Regional tourism leaders have been given a 60-day deadline to formulate fundraising plans with the goal of raising at least $60 million by year’s end for a worldwide campaign for Caribbean tourism, Chastanet said. Promotional activities will begin after the U.S. presidential election in November.

The agreement came about at the recent CARICOM summit in Antigua.
