Caribbean Music Channel, HYPE TV Expanding Reach To Viewers In South Florida

SOUTH FLORIDA – HYPE TV, the Caribbean’s first 24 hour music driven entertainment station has expanded its global reach to the South Florida region. Effective November 1, 2014, the station began transmission to Broward, Dade and parts of Palm Beach County on channel 11.3 digital broadcast TV. Viewers in Miami, Kendall, Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, Lauderhill and parts of Palm Beach will also be able to watch the channel for free by using an RCA UHF/VHF/Digital rabbit ear antenna that can be purchased at Walmart, Walgreens, Radio Shack or www.gomuhu.com for under $10.

“This is something that has been in the pipeline for a very, very long time. We began transmission in South Florida and will do the same in New York soon. It is a very exciting time for us ” said George Walker, Manager, International Expansion of HYPE TV.

“We intend to connect the Caribbean nationals in the Diaspora to their roots by offering programming relevant to their interests and way of life. HYPE TV intends to be the television channel of choice wherever people of Caribbean descent are gathered across South Florida; whether in their homes, grocery stores, hairdressers, barbers, bars and restaurants” he said.

Walker also announced that HYPE TV was in negotiations with a number of local TV content providers in Jamaica, to carry their programs in the US. Among them are OnStage TV, CPTC, Magnum Kings and Queens, Mission Catwalk and Dancing Dynamites.

With shows that take viewers from Jamaica, Barbados, St. Vincent, Trinidad, Atlanta, Antigua and the rest of the Caribbean, HYPE TV is on the edge of youth focused entertainment making a real connection with audiences. Now that it has penetrated the all important US market, HYPE TV Video Production team will be a fixture at local community events in South Florida and will be the production outfit of choice wherever there are Caribbean events. The focus will be on sports, entertainment, lifestyle and community development. The South Florida region is home to one of the largest clusters of Caribbean people in the USA. These numbers continue to grow, along with a corresponding demand for TV programming that is pertinent to their culture.

HYPE TV which officially launched in Kingston Jamaica in 1999, is fueled by the pulsating rhythms and vibrant traditions of the Caribbean and is programmed to entertain, inform and educate viewers who have ties to, or simply desire to learn more about the region’s rich cultural heritage.
