Caribbean Chefs, Bartenders to Share Sips and Samples at Taste of the Islands on June 13

Live Music, Savory Bites, Cocktail Sips and More 

MIAMI – Each year, notable chefs and bartenders from Caribbean team together to represent their island at Taste of the Caribbean, a culinary competition held at the Hyatt Regency Miami. On Saturday, June 13 from 6:30 pm until 9pm foodies and fans can enjoy the culinary and cocktail creations created by the talented teams during Taste of the Islands, the popular culinary and cultural showcase.

Live music, cooking demos, as well as booths with destination information for Caribbean islands fill the grand ballroom creating a night of fun, food and festivities. Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased online with Evenbrite at http://tinyurl.com/TasteTix2015.

“With culinary teams from ten islands participating this year, there will be samples of at least 20 different recipes and ten different cocktails at A Taste of the Islands,” said Frank J. Comito, CEO of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association, which coordinates the event, “Attendees will get a taste of the incredible flavors, culinary and musical talents of the Caribbean.”

Chefs and bartenders representing Caribbean destinations will each have a booth at Taste of the Islands. Each team will offer tapas style bites of two Caribbean dishes and a sample of their cocktail. Each national team is comprised of two senior chefs, one junior chef, one bartender, one pastry chef and one manager. The destinations represented at the 2015 Taste of the Islands are from Anguilla, Bahamas, Barbados, Bonaire, British Virgin Islands, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, Suriname and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Taste of the Caaribbean

For a more intimate dining experience with the Caribbean culinary teams, tickets are available to a sit-down lunch and dinner on Friday June 12. As part of the culinary competition Caribbean teams prepare 3-course meals paired with wine. Each team prepares mouth-watering meals for three tables (30 guests). Taking place on Friday, June 12 from 12 – 2 pm, the lunch will include three-course meals paired with wine. Teams from the Bahamas, Barbados, Bonaire, the British Virgin Islands and the US Virgin Islands will prepare Caribbean National Teams Culinary Competition lunch. Tickets for the competition lunch are $50 per person.

Teams from Anguilla, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Suriname and reigning Caribbean Culinary Team of the Year – Puerto Rico, will prepare the three-course dinner, paired with wine. Tickets for the competition dinner, taking place from 7:30 – 9:30 pm, are $50 per person.
