Caribbean-American National running for Miramar Commissioner seat

MIRAMAR – Alexandra Davis is seeking to be the next City of Miramar Commissioner. A position left vacant by Barbara Sherief, who has tendered her resignation to run for County Commissioner.

As a City of Miramar Commissioner, Alexandra Davis will be committed to keeping taxes and fees low in the City of Miramar; work to produce legislation that would require banks to maintain foreclosed properties; educate homeowners on refinancing to avoid foreclosure; developing small businesses to create jobs; provide our Police Department with the resources they need to reduce crime and create youth mentoring programs.

Alexandra was born in London England to Jamaican parents. At age 11, her family moved to Jamaica where Alexandra was raised and attended Wolmer’s Girls’ High School in Kingston and the University of the West Indies. Alexandra, a daughter of a Minister, is the proud parent of a Miramar High School Alumni now attending FAMU.

Alexandra has been a resident of Miramar for 20 years and has served on the City of Miramar Planning and Zoning Board, City of Miramar Community Service Board, Monarch Lakes Homeowner’s Association Board and is a co-founder of Caribefest, Miramar’s Caribbean Festival.

With a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of the West Indies and 18 years of experience as a Miami-Dade County Administrator, Alexandra Davis is the best qualified candidate to fill the City of Miramar Commission seat.

Alexandra states “I love the City’s cultural diversity, family-oriented neighborhoods and our beautiful parks”. Alexandra added, “I am committed to working to improve the quality of life for all of Miramar’s residents.”
