Caribbean Airlines making safer credit card transactions for purchasing flights

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – Caribbean Airlines is helping to make online transactions safer than ever! They will be utilising a service known as “MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa”.

This simply means that if you are going to pay for a flight with your Visa or MasterCard credit cards, you can benefit from an enhanced payment protection mechanism once your own financial institution offers this service. SecureCode and Verified by Visa provides added protection against unauthorized use of credit cards when you shop with us online. We want to prevent unauthorized online use before it happens by confirming your identity with an additional password.

You will need to activate your card by registering directly. Once your financial institution participates in these programmes, you can visit either the Mastercard or Visa websites to go directly to the registration process.

Once you have registered and created your password, you will be automatically prompted by your financial institution to provide your password on our “Passengers & Payment” booking portal every time you purchase with us.

You can then register and create your own private password with your financial institution. This password will never be shared. It’s just like entering your PIN at an ATM. MasterCard Secure and Verified by Visa must not be confused with other fraud prevention tools such as Approval and Denial Codes, Card Security Codes or Address Verification. The system is currently mandatory for financial institutions in the US and Canada and will now be an integral part of our online customer experience.

In fact, both MasterCard and Visa state that if you do not subscribe to the service and if your card has been fraudulently used, you will not receive chargeback protection.
