Broward Commissioner Dale Holness Recognizes Joshua’s Heart Foundation Volunteers

FT. LAUDERDALE – Volunteers from Joshua’s Heart Foundation (JHF) were recognized for their community service during the April 25 Broward County Commission meeting.

The volunteers, all students from Broward County, were presented with certificates of appreciation for their outstanding volunteer work within the community.  Several of the students also received The President’s Volunteer Service Award from the Obama Administration.

In addition to JHF volunteers receiving their certificates, Commissioner Holness presented Joshua Williams’ mother with a proclamation, declaring Tuesday, April 25, 2017, as Joshua Williams Day in Broward County.

“It is said that a child shall lead them, with April 23-29 being National Volunteer Week, I thought it was very appropriate to recognize these wonderful students and Joshua for their commitment to making our community better.  It’s very fitting we honor some of our children who are leading us” said Commissioner Holness.

Joshua’s Heart Foundation (JHF) was founded in 2005 by Joshua Williams when he was four and a half years old and is dedicated to the fight against global hunger and poverty.

Now 16-years-old, Joshua is the president of JHF and is an advocate for the needy, and sits on several national boards.  He travels locally and internationally to create awareness about hunger, poverty, and to motivate others.
