Brian McKnight is confirmed for the CVM TV Port Royal Music Festival

PORT ROYAL, Jamaica – As the promoters of the festival, which is in its second staging, promise to deliver a timeless experience, it is fitting that Brain McKnight- a performer with such effortless eloquence will grace the stage at this year’s anticipated event.

“The Port Royal Music festival is a festival that seeks to please it’s audience with eternal music, and Brian McKnight, with his smooth voice and vintage vibe, will not only take adults back in time with his many soulful ballads but will also entice teenagers with his rhythmic melodies,” outlines Neville Blythe, Chairman of Paradise Communications, organizers of the annual event.

McKnight never fails to mesmerize. Christopher Blythe, Executive Director of Paradise Communications, believes that Brian McKnight captures the true meaning of soul, “Brian McKnight is one of the greatest soul men of our time, and he has range, depth and longevity that is comparable to such musical icons as Marvin Gaye and Luther Vandross, Blythe said. “No one can deny that Brian McKnight has endless talent. His success as a singer, songwriter, arranger, producer and musician commands him great respect in the music industry. Because we wanted to deliver a great show, Brian McKnight was a perfect fit for the event,” Blythe added.

The multi-instrumentalist, who can play nine instruments including the drums, guitar, bass guitar and tuba, was born on June 5, 1969 in Buffalo, New York. McKnight’s musical career started with a musical childhood, in which he was a band leader in high school and was a member of his church’s choir. At the age of 19, McKnight signed his first recording deal with Mercury Records.

His first alum titled, ‘Brain McKnight’ was released in 1992. McKnight released three more albums with Mercury records which included ‘Anytime’, which sold over two million copies and was nominated for a Grammy before moving to Motown Records.

While signed to Motown Records McKnight released ‘Back at One’ in 1999, which sold over three million copies. McKnight went on to sell over 16 millions albums since his self titled debut in 1992. Throughout the span of his career he has collaborated with various artists including, Jill Scott, Mary J. Blige, Vanessa Williams, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Quincy Jones and Boyz II Men. Mcknight also has an impressive collection of awards and nominations including an unbelievable sixteen Grammy nominations, with the most recent including his 2004 and 2005 Best Male Vocal Performance Grammy nominations for ‘Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda’ (2003), and ‘What We Do Here’ (2005), respectively.

McKnight’s current album, ‘Ten’, includes songs that testify to McKnight’s true talent and staying power. McKnight reveals that he believes that ‘Ten’ is one of his best albums in years. The album includes the chart topper ‘Used to be my Girl’ (2006) and other epic tunes such as, ‘We Just work so well together’ (2006) and ‘Should have been loving you’ (2006).
