Book Review: “To Market, To Market…” by Ivy Higgins, a Jamaican-American author

ANN ARBOR, MI – Robbie Dean Press is pleased to announce its latest publication, To Market, To Market… by Ivy Higgins.

Set in the rural hamlet of Bottom Patrick, the story follows the triumphs and disappointments of Calvin-Joe, a young man who leaves his native Jamaica to save his life. With help from his mother and her friend, Calvin-Joe goes to the United States with dreams of having a better life.

However, unexpected circumstances and the decisions made because of them result in Calvin-Joe’s life taking unexpected turns. Written in a West Indian dialect, Higgins tells a story of love, lies, and dreams that keep the reader engaged to the very end.

Ivy Higgins is an assistant professor in the School of English Studies at The College of The Bahamas in Nassau, Bahamas. Her academic research interests are West Indian and African American Literature. To Market, To Market is Ivy Higgins’ first published book.
