Book Review: "British West Indies Style" features homes of the Caribbean

NEW YORK – This October, Rizzoli and best-selling author Michael Connors invite you to discover the delightfully colorful and elegantly furnished homes of the British West Indies.

Offering a rare glimpse inside a refined world, hidden to most visitors, British West Indies Style takes you on a journey through the history of the islands and into the beautiful colonial houses filled with exotic tropical hardwood furniture and refreshingly simple design ideas.

British West Indies Style is a comprehensive work divided by island, from Antigua, Jamaica, Nevis, Barbados, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, St. Kitts, Mustique to the less-traveled islands of Bequia and Dominica.

Close to fifty private homes are featured, with stunning photographs taken especially for the book.

Their bold, bright colors shine off each page, capturing the craftsmanship and exquisite beauty of mahogany writing tables, linens, breathtaking terraced gardens, and offer inspiration for the use of local materials, painting techniques, and indoor/outdoor living—for wherever you call home.

And if being transported to one sun-bathed paradise after another wasn’t enough, Dr. Connors’ engaging text covering battles on the high seas and general lawlessness is both entertaining and informative making this a book that you will want to revisit again and again.
