Billion Dollar Global Campaign Launched To Benefit The United Way Of Jamaica

Minneapolis, MN – The Jamaica Minnesota Organization (JMO) and the United Way have joined forces to launch a global billion dollar campaign to underwrite a range of programs undertaken by the United Way of Jamaica.

The funds raised from this historic campaign will be used to assist at risk youth and those persons who are mentally and physi cally challenged by providing skills training, employment generation and conflict resolution programs. In addition, proceeds will al so be inve sted in education and healthy lifestyle initiatives.

Dr. Karlene Silvera, President of JMO, remarked on the importance of this initiative; “In keeping with our organization’s ongoing commitment to playing an active role in the betterment of Jamaica, JMO is honored to sponsor this campaign of raising 1 billion Jamaican dollars which will raise charitable capital for Jamaicans in need who are served by the United Way of Jamaica”.

Individuals and corporations who wish to contribute can do so in a variety of ways. Online pledges may be made by logging on to www.uwint.org (United Way International – Jamaica Fund) or www.unitedwayja.org (United Way of Jamaica). Donations via mail should be sent to United Way International – Jamaica Fund20at P.O. Box 10006, Uniondale, NY 11555.

Donors in the United States are reminded that their deductions are tax deductible and that, in many instances, US employers often have gift-matching programs wherein employer matching dollars could double or triple the impact of each gift.
