BET J and Concord partner to promote future of jazz

NEW YORK – Three of America’s emerging jazz stars, who performed at the 2005 Anguilla Tranquility Jazz Festival, are jazzing up BET J’s airwaves, the fruit of a partnership between the television network and Concord Music Group.

The talents of Grammy-nominated trumpeter Christian Scott; singer/songwriter Erin Boheme; and pianist, composer, bandleader and double Grammy nominee, Taylor Eigsti are commanding the respect of jazz enthusiasts and critics around the world, even though none of them has reached their 25th birthday.

Christian Scott, a New York-based Berklee College of Music graduate, has been described as one of the brightest jazz stars to emerge in recent years, and is poised to make an impact on the future of jazz. He was recently nominated for a Grammy in the category of “Best Contemporary Jazz Album” for his critically-acclaimed debut, Rewind That.

Erin Boheme bridges generations with an irresistible, emotionally compelling mix of old-school swing, modern pop and fresh, new jazz. Taylor Eigsti, who recently received two Grammy nominations (“Best Jazz Instrumental Solo” and “Best Instrumental Composition”), brings a sound that is rooted in jazz history, but it also incorporates the progressive jazz sound of the 21st century.

Thirty minute presentations of each of their dynamic performances, both in Anguilla and at Dizzy’s Jazz Club at the Lincoln Center in New York City, have received extensive airplay both on BET and BET J, whose viewers can return for more musical magic in the upcoming weeks.

Cybelle Brown, Vice President of Sales and Business Development with BET Digital Networks, said the partnership with Concord Music Group has been positive. “Concord Records is a super partner and must be commended for investing in the talents of these young musicians,” said Brown, whose company has also provided marketing support for the artists and their music.

Upcoming BET J airdates for Christian Scott are February 19 at 7 p.m.; February 22 at 4:30 p.m.; March 13 at 7:30 p.m.; and March 15 at 4:30 p.m.
