On hand to celebrate the occasion was the Bahamas Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Obie Wilchcombe, whose Ministry has an on-going partnership with the Miami Dolphins and also just celebrated 50 years of Tourism.

Established by the Promotion of Tourism Act in 1964, The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism aggressively promotes the Islands of The Bahamas internationally.  Since its establishment, the Islands of The Bahamas have become one of the premier year-round tourism destinations of the world.  In 2014 the United Nations World Tourism Organization recognized The Bahamas as a leader in tourism, an industry that has transformed and catapulted that nation’s social and economic development.

The Ministry of Tourism enjoys an on-going agreement with the Miami Dolphins Organization, and over the years, both organizations have partnered together on multiple co-branding opportunities to promote The Bahamas and the Miami Dolphins.

The Islands of The Bahamas is the preferred vacation destination for the Miami Dolphins’ players, legends, members and fans.

For the past two years, the Miami Dolphins’ legends and fans, led by former NFL Miami Dolphins quarterback, Dan Marino, have conducted its “Legends Getaway” in The Bahamas.  The group participates in golf tournaments, boating, and also conducts football and cheerleading clinics for the youth of The Bahamas. The next planned trip for the group is May 23-30, 2016.
