Antigua & Barbuda’s Carnival Development Committee Announces Sub-Committee Chairpersons

St. John’s, Antigua – The Carnival Development Committee (CDC)in Antigua on Friday, May 1 announced the names of the individuals who will be charged with organizing the various shows for Antigua and Barbuda’s 2009 Carnival.

CDC Chairman Vaughn Walter says that he is confident that the individuals selected and their teams will be able to produce shows of a high standard despite the pending cuts in budgetary allocations for the activities. “They are all individuals who have years of experience in Carnival and I look forward to working with them in producing an exciting and unique package for our visitors and residents,” he said.

The list of Chairpersons and their responsibilities are:

Queen of Carnival – Ms. Samoya Kirby
Calypso – Ms. Donalyn Beazer
Party Monarch – Ms. Denise Francis
Teen Splash – Mr. Phil George
Junior Calypso & Carnival – Mr. Rudolph Davis & Ms. Asha Christian
Panorama – Mr. Harry Elvin
Opening of Carnival &
Protocol – Mrs. Dulcie Looby-Greene &
Ms. Tracey Cornelius
Groups and Troupes – Mr. Everton Barnes
Stage Management – Mr. Howard Joseph & Mr. Cleofoster Harris

Carnival 2009 will be held from July 25th to August 4th under the theme “It’s Your’s, It’s Mine – Antigua’s Carnival 2009.”
