Ambassador Andrew J. Young in South Florida for Haiti fundraiser and campaign efforts for Caribbean-American Commissioner, Dale Holness

PLANTATION – Civil rights icon, Ambassador Andrew J. Young, Chairman of the Southern Africa Enterprise Development Fund (SAEDF), will deliver the keynote address on International Trade at a Fundraiser on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at the Fort Lauderdale Women’s Club building at 15 South East 1st Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301.

In addition to promoting international trade, particularly with Africa and developing nations in Latin America and the Caribbean, the event will raise funds for Haiti relief and development efforts and for Lauderhill Vice Mayor and candidate for Broward County Commission, District 9, Dale Holness.

“We are excited about having a keynote speaker with the caliber of Ambassador Andrew Young, who has been a stalwart in the area of international trade and international relations,” said Mr. Holness. “Ambassador Young has shown the way America benefits by creating trade through international relations, which he has done all over the world, particularly in Africa. If we are to grow out of this economic morass we now find ourselves in, we have to focus heavily on international trade,” he added.

Mr. Holness, who is passionate about economic development through trade, is also championing the cause of increasing international trade in South Florida. To that end, he has established Sister City relationships with cities such as Suzano, Sao Paolo, Brazil; Trelawny, Jamaica; and Petionville, Haiti. He also led the effort to create an international trade incubator in Lauderhill that will provide education, training and support services as well as low cost space for businesses entering the import/export market.

Mr. Holness said, “According to the Sun-Sentinel editorial page on Sunday, June 27, 2010, one (1) in six (6) jobs in Florida depends on international trade. Further, the Chinese are beating us all over the world in trade and are using the money made from these ventures to buy our debts. In essence, they are owning us; when someone owns your debts, they practically own you.”

Pastor Henoc Paulicin of the Ambassador SDA Church believes this is an excellent opportunity to meet Ambassador Andrew Young and to learn about opportunities in the international marketplace.

Space will be limited. Please RSVP to 954.327.4577 / 786-370-7597 or email: [email protected] by Monday, July 5. Minimum contribution $150.00
