Print This Story MIA Hosts Exhibit By Haitian-Born Miami Artist MIAMI – Memoire sans Histoire, a collection of recent works by Haitian-born Miami artist Edouard Duval-Carrié that chronicles the major events in Haiti’s past, is on display through May 15 at Miami International Airport’s Central Terminal Gallery (Concourse E, just past the security checkpoint). Aside from his interest in Haiti’s history, Duval-Carrié’s work focuses on the exploration of new materials. In contrast, for example, to the use of bronze as a characteristic material for sculpture, Duval-Carrié enjoys working with modern substances like resin and aluminum. ”Recurrent hurricanes ravage those islands more often than not and being on a continental fault line, earthquakes and volcanic activity create rude awakenings in the region as was seen recently on the island of Haiti,” says Duval-Carrié. “What astounds me is the resilience of the people. We know that we live a precarious life and as such we know that adversity is the rule.
