Jamaica National Annual General Meeting To Be Streamed Live

KINGSTON, Jamaica - Jamaica National Building Society will hold its 135th Annual General Meeting in the Grand Jamaican Suite of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel on Tuesday, September 22, at 4 p.m.

Among the issues to be considered at the meeting is the election of directors to the fourteen member board. Three members retiring this year are St. James physician Dr. Henry Brown CD; St. Catherine businessman William Mahfood B.Sc; and St. Ann attorney Jennifer Martin JP.

The meeting will also receive the latest directors’ report, statement of accounts, auditors’ report and appoint auditors for the new term and conduct any other business required.

The proceedings will be streamed live over the internet to give as many members as possible the opportunity to experience the meeting. Branches in Savanna-la-Mar and Ocho Rios will receive the internet feed, along with members gathered at the Montego Bay Civic Centre, the Golf View Hotel in Mandeville, Morant Villas in Morant Bay and Arians Restaurant in Spanish Town. Overseas representative offices in Toronto and Fort Lauderdale will also carry the live stream.

A feature of the meeting is that each year, members choose projects they wish the Society to support financially. A decision was taken last year to re-roof the records department of the Gayle Health Centre and complete fencing of the premises. It was decided that funds should be allocated to correct the vision of 120 young students through the Foundation for International Self Help.

Jamaica National Building Society is a mutual organization, so that its customers are its owners. With no external shareholders, the Society exists to serve the interest of its account holders and other customers.
