Consulate General of Jamaica (Miami) hosts Service of thanksgiving to mark 50th anniversary of Independence

SOUTH FLORIDA - In recognition of Jamaica’s 50th anniversary of Independence, the Consulate General of Jamaica in Miami will hold the annual ecumenical service on Sunday, August 5th at 4:00 p.m.

The Service will be held at the Christian Life Center, 2699 West Commercial Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309.

This year’s sermon will be delivered by the Most Reverend Charles Dufour, Catholic Archbishop of Kingston. The officiating clergy will be the Reverend Dr. Raymond Anglin, Pastor of the Ascension Peace Presbyterian Church in Lauderdale Lakes.

The Service will feature performances by the massed voice South Florida Caribbean Chorale, the Tallawah Mento Band and the Jamaica Folk Revue, and the Sierra Norwood Youth Voice Ensemble.

Proceeds of collection will benefit the Friends of Good Shepherd (FOG), the American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ) and the Crayon Count Initiative, Jamaica.

Consul General Sandra Grant Griffiths has called on all Jamaicans and friends of the Diaspora to participate in this special occasion of thanksgiving for Jamaica’s milestone of 50 years as an independent nation.
