Bahamas 39TH Anniversary of Independence Celebrations In South Florida

WEST PARK - The Bahamas Consulate General, in conjunction with the City of West Park and KP Productions, will host an Independence Goombay Family Fun Day on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at McTyre Park, 3501 SW 56th Avenue, City of West Park, Florida.

The Family Fun Day is designed to provide an opportunity to promote Bahamian culture in a festive, clean and safe environment. The purpose of the event is to expose the people of South Florida to “all things Bahamian” including arts and craft items, cuisine and Junkanoo. Activities for the day will also include the Bounce Castle, Face Painting and live DJ. The major attractions of the day are the cook-off, “Conch ain’t ga no bone,” and the Junkanoo competition where trophies and prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners.

The deadline for Vendor Application is Friday, June 15, 2012. Should you be interested in volunteering for the event, or should you require additional information on the Independence Family Fun Day, please contact the Bahamas Consulate General, at (305) 373 6295 or by email at bcgmia@bellsouth.net

On Sunday 15, July, 2012, come worship with us at the Annual Church Service followed by a reception at the New Mount Olive Baptist Church, in Fort Lauderdale.
