One Month Left Before 16 Couples Wed On 16 islands In The Bahamas On January 16 at 16:00 Hours

13_islands-of-the-bahamas_logoPLANTATION – With less than one month left to go before the exciting “16 Islands, 16 Weddings One Priceless Day” event takes place, the countdown to complete final wedding preparations for 16 couples is on.  On January 16, 2015, 16 lucky couples from throughout the United States of America will say “I do” on 16 Islands in The Bahamas at exactly 16:00 hours.

For the past five months, the couples have been working feverishly with their wedding planners, sponsors and hotel partners in planning their priceless day, happening in Acklins, Abaco, Andros, Crooked Island, The Berry Island, Bimini, Cat Island, Eleuthera, Exuma, Harbour Island, Grand Bahama, Inagua, Long Island, Nassau, Paradise Island and San Salvador.

Plans for the 16 nuptials are as varied as the 16 distinctive islands and couple themselves.  Wedding plans range from the large and elegant ceremonies in Bimini and Paradise Island to the small and romantic ceremonies taking place in Eleuthera and Inagua.  The more adventurious couples have opted to say I do while swimming with pigs in Exuma and encountering dolphins underwater, in Grand Bahama.

According to Freda Malcolm, Director of Romance for The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, “the unique promotion has paid off handsomely for the 16 participating hotels, sponsors and the Islands of The Bahamas’ brand”.

“I believe that the couples along with their guests have maxed out the occupancy capacity in the majority (if not all) of the participating hotels,” she said.

“This wonderful problem to have, tells us that the diversity of our brand is most compelling and that the desire to visit, ‘romance’ and stay with us is remarkably high.  And so, this promotion has been extremely rewarding for us, both financially and professionally in repositioning The Bahamas as the number one destination in the Caribbean for romance, honeymoons and nuptials”, she said.

A number of media outlets have already expressed an interest in attending and providing news coverage of the unique destination event.

“Our couples, witnesses, family and friends, sponsors such as MasterCard®, Mon Cheri, 1.888.mytuxes.com and Steven Singer Jewelers together with host hotels: Hilton, Hope Town Harbour Lodge, Acklins Island Lodge, Kamalame Cay, Carriearl Boutique Hotel, Resorts World Bimini, Pigeon Cay Club, Tranquility on The Bay, Pineapple Fields, Valentines Resort, Sandals, Grand Lucayan, Inagua Ocean Villas, Atlantis, Stella Maris Resort, and Riding Rock are all equally excited as they continue their final preparations for couples who will be arriving only weeks and hours now,” she said.
