MIAMI– This fall, Miami Dade College’s (MDC) acclaimed School of Business will offer free workshops to small and moderate-sized businesses from specific areas in Miami-Dade County, as part of its Small Business Education Program/Grow Miami Initiative sponsored by Citi Foundation.

The program will launch with a series of eight seminars for small businesses owners that will be held this November through January 2015, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Topics will include marketing and social media, sales, government contracting, human resources, accounting practices and taxes, QuickBooks, business operations, as well as creating the framework of a business plan.

A second phase of the program will follow with a business round-table discussion with successful local business owners and a mentoring program. Graduates of the program will be eligible to participate in further financial workshops provided by the National Development Council.

All seminars, the business round-table, and mentoring sessions will be held at Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami.

Participating firms must meet specific criteria. Interested individuals should consult the program’s website before registering. No one will be allowed to attend without registering in advance via the Small Business Education Program’s website at:  www.mdc.edu/smallbusiness.

“The collaboration between Miami Dade College and Citi Foundation has made it possible once again to offer this program that provides the small business community with professional knowledge to expand and strengthen their businesses,” said Dr. Ana M. Cruz, chairperson of the School of Business at the Wolfson Campus.

Miami Dade College has been awarded multiple grants from Citi Foundation that have enabled the College to offer free technical workshops to hundreds of existing business owners.
