Major hotel brands debut in Jamaica
Destination Broadens Hotel Portfolio with New Builds and Deepens Relationships with Current Properties
KINGSTON, JAMAICA – Major hotel brands are entering the shorelines of Jamaica to entertain vacationers with elegance, luxury and more variety than ever. Jamaica’s collection of hotels is rapidly growing and diversifying with the debut of renowned hotel brands such as Hyatt and recently announced brands such as Curio – A Collection by Hilton.

OCHO RIOS
- Hilton Worldwide: Hilton Worldwide recently signed two iconic Jamaican properties to Curio – A Collection by Hilton, a global brand of distinctive upper upscale and luxury hotels, hand-picked for travelers who seek local discovery and authentic experiences. Jewel Paradise Cove Beach Resort & Spa Runaway Bay, Curio – A Collection by Hilton, and Jewel Dunn’s River Beach Resort & Spa Ocho Rios, Curio – A Collection by Hilton, have become two of the latest Curio properties – and the first in the Caribbean. The hotels are owned by Sagicor and managed by Aimbridge Hospitality.
MONTEGO BAY
- Hyatt Hotels: The official grand opening ceremony for Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall and Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall, Hyatt’s first dual-branded all-inclusive resorts in Jamaica, was celebrated on March 20, 2015. The 620-guestroom resort is the culmination of more than an $85 million renovation and re-creation of this iconic beachfront site at Rose Hall. Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall caters to guests of all ages and is a paradise of rest, relaxation and rejuvenation. Sophisticated and stylish, Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall is an indulgent escape focusing exclusively on adults. Playa Hotels & Resorts owns and manages the brand.
- Meliá Hotel International: The 225-room Braco Village Hotel and Spa is currently undergoing a $1-billion upgrade and will be rebranded as the upscale Meliá Braco Village in December 2015. The Trelawny-based resort will be the Spanish chain’s first property in Jamaica. The long-term goal is to expand the resort and rebrand it as a Paradisus, part of Meliá Hotel International.
NEGRIL
- Karisma Hotels & Resorts: Karisma opened Azul Sensatori Jamaica in 2014, and has announced it will continue its expansion into Jamaica in 2016 with Azul Beach Jamaica in Negril. The new hotel will feature over 150 suites with ocean views, three restaurants and four pools, all exclusively for sale among U.S. and Canadian visitors. Karisma recently launched the Nickelodeon Experience for all hotels in summer 2015. Children of all ages will be entertained by beloved Nickelodeon characters.
- The Cliff Hotel and Spa: Moon Dance Cliffs, a stunning villa and boutique hotel on Jamaica’s West End, is changing hands. The Vagabond Group has teamed up with hospitality veteran Mary Phillips and culinary experts Delius Shirley and Chef Cindy Hutson to acquire the resort/villa on June 1, 2015. The new owners will renovate the 33 rooms, spa, restaurant and public area over the course of four months, and the hotel will reopen on October 1, 2015 as The Cliff Hotel and Spa.
