JAMPRO represents the region at China business summit and launches Jamaica business mandarin site
Kingston, Jamaica – JAMPRO will be leading a regional delegation from the Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA) and local exporters to the 8th annual China-LAC Business Summit taking place from September 5 – 14, 2014 in Changsha, Hunan.
The Business Summit will bring together top executives, policy makers and high public officials to exchange ideas and experiences on key areas for the identification of trade and investment business opportunities between regions. Attending the summit are JAMPRO President Diane Edwards, Senior Consulting Officer at JAMPRO Nardia McKenzie as well as representatives from Jamaican export companies Salada Foods and Wynlee Distributors.
This year’s summit will focus on the key issues to the interest of China-LAC business circles, with a broader prospect of international economic and trade development trend. According to JAMPRO’s president the summit will provide an opportunity to present investment opportunities in the targeted sectors to Chinese and Latin American enterprises as well as showcase Jamaican products for exports to China.
The national investment and trade agency has previously attended two LAC Summits in China and is looking to further develop the relationship between China and the Caribbean region. Ms. Edwards said, “We will be hitting the pavement hard in China with a view to follow up on leads generated from two recent inward missions. This is an opportunity to really explore the market activity in China and to target high level CEOs that we want to attend our Jamaica Investment Forum 2015.”
While there the JAMPRO President will be making a presentation during the summit on behalf of CAIPA, launching JAMPRO’s mandarin website as well as the agency’s new interactive web portal Global Business Connect. The mission will also include meetings with top officials in Beijing prior to the summit organized by the Embassy of Jamaica in China.
Throughout the summit JAMPRO will be staging a booth that will feature Jamaican exporters Salada and Wynlee who has received funding from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
